Preforms - e.g. in the form of T-stringers - can also be produced by joining dry fiber semi-finished products by sewing.
In cooperation with Brötje Automation and the Faserinstitut Bremen research facility, CTC Stade GmbH has developed a continuous process for manufacturing curved preforms for complex CFRP sections (e.g. frames, stringers) within the scope of the LOKOST LuFo project. Through the use of this technology, production cost can be reduced by 50% and turnaround times by 80%.
Elements that are already preformed can accelerate the production of complex components and thus make them more cost effective.
One example is a CFRP window frame, which is industrially manufactured using automated dry fiber technology.
