Simulation of RTM and VARI Processes

The manufacture of CFRP components using dry fiber technology creates new challenges for the production process. There´s a strong demand for the simulation of these processes, particularly the drape process of multi-axial, non-crimped fabrics (NCF) and resin injection using the RTM or VARI methods. This would reduce the costs for manufacturing and reduce process lead time.

Partner in the simulation technology

CTC GmbH is cooperating with competent partners on the creation of a closed simulation chain ranging from drape simulation to resin infusion and cure of the component:

The Faserinstitut Bremen (FIBRE) is a partner of CTC GmbH in drape simulation. Mathematical models for the drapability of non-crimped fabrics are being developed at FIBRE and integrated into existing programs in cooperation with software manufacturers.

For flow simulations, a cooperation with the Institute of Polymer Materials and Polymer Technology at the TU Clausthal has been established. The flow simulations and permeability measurements for different materials, stacking sequences and preform geometries are carried out at this institute.

CTC GmbH coordinates the aforementioned activities in simulation technology and provides a link for problems that occur between practical experience and scientific research.
