Tailored Fiber Placement Unit

The TFP (Tailored Fiber Placement) is used for the deposition of dry fiber rovings on a stitching base. The dry fiber roving is fixed onto the stitching base with a stitching thread. Some application examples are optimized fittings and load introductions. The TFP unit at CTC enables the adjustment of the stitching width, stroke and a has continuously variable speed setting. The stroke setting is possible within 0-8 mm, depending on the thickness of the stitching material.

The thread tension is automatically set with individually adjustable thread tensioners for the different stitching patterns. Programmed patterns can be repeated up to 99 times, enabling operations such as mirroring, rotations and displacements.

Additional parameters of the TFP unit are as follows:

Number of stitching heads: 8
Work envelope per stitching head: 1200 x 700 mm
Types of stitches: standard stitching, taping, different zigzag pendulum stitching patterns, coiling
Max. main waive rotations: 850 rpm
Types of operation: slow and fast operation, manual operation
